What is LEAH?

Loving Education at Home (LEAH) is a Christian organization whose chapters are like-minded home education support groups made up of affiliated families dedicated to observing the Biblical commands of Deuteronomy 6:4-10; Proverbs 22:6; and Ephesians 6:4.  We are home educators from across the state who voluntarily unite for the purposes of encouragement, working together to promote and protect home education, and representation in the legislative process in New York state.  LEAH is also the NYS contact for the National Center for Home Education (NYCHE) for national legislative issues. Affiliated families support the state-wide ministry through participation in civic hands-on education, the annual state convention, regional events and local activities such as field trips, mini-classes, clubs like 4-H, Spelling and Geography Bees, and providing encouragement and support for both veteran and new home educators.  Networking is also promoted by connecting like-minded home-schoolers interested in various learning opportunities including state and national competitions. Growth and support of local chapters is nurtured through leadership materials, meetings, and training.  A state-wide alert network helps to communicate timely information on issues of concern to home educating families.  Each autonomous chapter chooses its own activities and governing structure.
